The objective of the study was to evaluate the silvicultural implications of planting seedlings of four native forest species during the dry and rainy seasons in a flooded riparian area. The experiment was installed in a degraded riparian area subject to flooding during the rainy season, located in the municipality of Alta Floresta, Mato Grosso State, Brazil. The tested treatments consisted of planting four native forest species, the first being in the middle of the rainy season and the second at the beginning of the dry season. The tree species studied were: Hevea brasiliensis (Willd. ex A. Juss.) Müll. Arg., Bixa arborea Huber, Inga laurina (Sw.) Willd. and Genipa americana L. At eight months after planting, the following assessments were carried out: survival rates, total height, stem diameter and number of leaves of the plants. B. arborea individuals survived only when planted in the dry season. The planting seasons did not affect the survival rates and vegetative growth of H. brasiliensis, I. laurina and G. americana. Planting in the dry season was favorable to the four forest species, with no negative silvicultural implications for survival and vegetative growth.
