The objective of the present work was to evaluate the influence of temperature and seed size on the germination of Plinia peruviana. Seeds were classified into three sizes: small (diameter ≤ 0.6 cm), average (0.6 - 1.0 cm) and large (≥ 1.5 cm). They were sown in plastic boxes containing vermiculite and Plantimax® (1:1) as substrate. The boxes were distributed in two temperature conditions: environmental temperature (22 ºC ± 2) and germination chamber (30 ºC ± 2). The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design. After 45 days, germination (%), germination speed index (GSI), mean germination time (MGT), mean germination speed (MGS), number of leaves per seedling (NL), height of the aerial part of the seedlings (HAP) and length of the longest root (LLR). Large seeds promoted the highest means in all variables, except for MGT. The temperature of 30 °C ± 2 caused higher GSI, MGT and MGS. Large seeds resulted seedlings with better quality and when germinating in a greenhouse produced seedlings with higher NL, HPA and LLR. Higher germination temperatures promote faster development of Plinia peruviana.
